One TV ad says “…sa panahon ngayon bawal ang magkasakit”, well practically its true considering the physical and financial impact brought by it. Indeed health is wealth.

Recently, a new virus causing illness in people was discovered. It is called Influenza A (H1N1) and it is fatal to human due to severe respiratory distress (pneumonia). According to Department of Health (DOH) website, this new virus was first detected in people in April 2009 in the United States.  This virus is spreading from person-to–person, probably the same way that the regular seasonal influenza viruses spread.

With this global flu scare, the Cotabato Jaycees, Inc. and Office of Health Services-Cotabato City in coordination with DOH had conducted free Influenza A H1N1 Vaccination and Blood Pressure monitoring. About a hundred (100) Cotabato Light employees, dependents and contractors availed of these free medical services. It was held at Cotabato Light's conference room on January 13, 2011. Well, we should all agree that an ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure.

The project was spearheaded by JCI members Stephen Henry Chin, Donjie Vertuoso and Oliver Makilang. With Mr. Stephen Chin, RN, the medical team who administered the vaccination were Ms. Emma ibad-Malang, RN, Saada Salik, RN, Regner Ferma. BP volunteers Francis Rey Bucol, Krizza Joy Albores, Charlene Clemente and Karla Louisa Wong. //
