Christmas is the perfect time for giving.  Seizing the opportunity to share and make other people happy, the Cotabato Light team conducted again a gift giving activity for the less privileged children.  It was held at the new Cotabato Light Gym on December 29, 2012.  There were about 130 grateful children received their “Christmas” presents.

These selected children came from different Barangays in Cotabato City.   The activity was done in coordination with the City Government’s Office of Social Welfare and Development Services (OSWDS) thru Mr. Zainudin Samid along with OSWDS’s street coordinators.

The gifts distributed were from the Samaritan’s Purse Organization based in USA.  It is a non-denominational evangelical group, providing spiritual and physical aid to marginalized people all over the world.  The Samaritan’s Purse in cooperation with the Aboitiz Foundation, Inc. and Cotabato Light somehow uplifts the spirit and brought smiles to the faces of these children.

This activity was spearheaded by Cotabato Light HR and Comrel Manager Ms. Tata Nataño. “Sana ay nagustuhan niyo ang mga regalo na inyong natanggap.  Ang mga iyan ay nagmula pa sa mga kaibigan natin sa abroad na may mabuting kalooban.  Let us all be thankful and cherished these gifts”, she said.

Indeed, a gift is an expression of love, an act of kindness that meant to make the recipient happier.  And, let us not forget that Christmas is for the children. Their innocent and angelic smiles warmth our hearts. And, the birth of our savior Jesus is a gift to humanity.  It symbolizes a gift of love, a new hope for the coming year.
